New Book! New Website!

September 24, 2012 Filed Under: Ashley is awesome, Mrs. X can suck it, WCIBY

I’m super excited to finally share a little bit of information about my next book, Why Can’t I Be You!  It hits shelves on February 26th (complete with blurbs by three of my favorite authors: Amy Hatvany, Sarah Pekkanen, and Jen Lancaster)!

I have to admit that after spending so much time with Van, Janie, Pete, Alex & Joe, I worried I wouldn’t be able to fall in love with new characters, but I did.  I miss Jenny Shaw and the rest of the gang already and I can’t wait for you to get to know them too.

I’m thrilled to announce that WCIBY will be a Brilliance Audiobook!  Brilliance did an amazing job with Stay, and I even had the opportunity to meet the team at Brilliance during my book tour.  They are wonderful and I’m honored to get to hear Jenny tell her story!

Piemme in Italy and Blanvalet in Germany have already picked up the rights to WCIBY! Jenny Shaw is going international!

If you want to read a bit about the book, you can pop over to the Why Can’t I Be You page on my new website!

And speaking of my new website, it was an absolute joy to work with Ashley Cadaret from Little Leaf Photography and Design. I’ve been reading her blog, Our Little Apartment for five or six years now, and it’s so cool to watch her design business grow.

Ashley has been responsible for my past few Twitter backgrounds, and getting to work with her on a full site was a thrill!  The hardest part was picking just one of her gorgeous design concepts.  She’s intuitive and asks exactly the right questions. I feel like this site explains my personality visually.  It’s the perfect fit!  It’s also super easy for me to navigate and update. If you’re looking for a new website, get in touch with Ashley!

I’m already working on my next book and another project to boot, so I don’t want to over promise, but now that I have a gorgeous new website and blog, I’m hoping to blog a little more regularly.  See you again soon!

We loved Stay, and got several friends to give it a try too. We’ll be waiting to read WCIBY, and I’m especially glad to hear that it will come out in audio. Good commuting time awaits!

Well, so far I’ve cleaned the gutters and raced Roxy to the vet ER to determine she did not (thankfully) eat any of the scrap of composite plastic decking she magically found out of freaking nowhere. (Getting pet insurance was the smartest thing I’ve ever done). I’m extremely bad at rest. Although I do find puttering around the house kind of meditative. Cleaning the gutters exhausted my body, but calmed my mind (briefly).

Francis seems just as interested in us as we are in them. (And look at that stance! And Francis’s little paw resting on the ledge 😍). #groundsquirrel #groundsquirrelsofinstagram #dailyroxydog #dogstagram #neighbors
I don’t think there’s anything more comforting I don’t think there’s anything more comforting than lying in a hammock. I’m exhausted. I’ve pushed against the limits of my being very hard all summer working on my draft and I definitely need to soak up some calm quiet on a large scale. Which is also to say if I owe you a call/email/text, it might take me a week or two to circle back. I’m going to catch up with myself and then with everyone else this time. Which I think might mean spending as much time as I can lying in my hammock listening to birds. #rest

All I ever want is an endless stream of tiny snack All I ever want is an endless stream of tiny snacks to crunch while I’m working. But since I have MCAS and it limits my diet, most of what I eat is food I make myself. Thankfully, corn tortillas are a safe food for me (everyone’s MCAS is different — so please don’t take my safe foods as any kind of sign they’re safe for someone else who has MCAS). Today, I remembered that I have tiny cookie cutters, so I made myself a bowl of mini chips. I tossed them with lime juice and salt and threw them in the air fryer. And then, of course, because I don’t want to waste food, I did the same for the scrap pieces (which somehow tasted even better!). So happy! #tortillachips
