Dear Weather, Bite me. Love, Allie

December 2, 2010 Filed Under: effing snow, rochester, weather

Okay, so you know how yesterday, thanks to the crazy wind I basically mooned the mail lady and got hit in the head with a door? Well, today Mr. Weather tricked me into spending four hours in the car just to grab a cup of coffee at the exit 42 Wilson Farms gas station off I-90.  I was supposed to go to Ithaca to have lunch with my friend, Marty.  I haven't seen him in ages, and he was so sweet to plan out a wonderful and gluten-free lunch for us (he's the most amazing cook I know, by the way). It was going to be so great to see him and catch up.  I decided to leave early, so I could bum around … [Read more...]

Did I forget to mention we live in the Arctic?

January 15, 2010 Filed Under: Argo the wonder dog, life, lists, rochester, weather

IMG_0445 Originally uploaded by AlliesAnswers Oh, another week of meaning to blog and not quite getting to it, so here's a pretty picture, and now I'm going to do one of my rundown lists on the events of the past week. :) Last Sunday, J and I grabbed our very underused crampons, and went out to Chimney Bluffs on Lake Ontario to climb around on the ice and pretend to be Arctic explorers. I have a hard time with new things. Once I get my I have a hard time with new things. Once I get my choreography down with an object that works for me, I will keep it until there’s no life left in it. Such is the case with the Adidas hat I bought at the last minute to have shade for my face on our wedding trip nineteen years ago. I liked the way it fit and I had the brim curled exactly the way I think a brim should curl and that was enough to spend almost two decades with a hat I didn’t particularly like otherwise. I’ve tried other hats, but they didn’t take, because I have very little patience for being distracted by clothing. But my new @hatxhats buddy showed up today and I know it’s a keeper. There was no adjustment period. The brim is already perfectly curled. It’s really nicely made and so lightweight. And x-ing out hate is much more my speed than the random brand of my ancient clearance rack hat. #newhat
