“And you’ll always know your neighbor, you’ll always know your pal…”
Lately, the days have been going by way too fast. I swear it should be last Wednesday instead of this Monday. And I've been meaning to write to you about oh so many things, so here's one of my big messy list posts.STAY sold in Poland! It's so amazingly cool to think that something I wrote will be published in four languages other than English. I'm not sure I can quite get my head around it. (Mrs. X can suck it!) I have a Facebook page for the book now, and have some event dates up!Shanna convinced me that when I do book events, I should actually, you know, wear decent clothes. AND she … [Read more...]
ADD, Of Mice and Men, and Mrs. X
In high school, my English teacher accused me of cheating on a test on Of Mice and Men. Obviously, my memories of this are tainted by emotion, but the gist of her accusation was that she didn't think I was smart enough to get all the answers right on the test by myself. I was a horrible student, but I wasn't a cheater. I read voraciously, but I read the books I chose, not the books that were assigned in school. I skimmed Frankenstein, but stayed up past bedtime with a flashlight to read Phantom of the Opera. I didn't make it past the second chapter of A Separate Piece, but I wore out the … [Read more...]

My 2009 Review- Part 1
Du Wax Loolu filled out this questionnaire from Sundry, and I thought it might be a neat thing to do too. I'm going to break it up into a few sections, because I'm a little chatty. And I have the hardest time picking the best or my favorite, so I ended up giving more than one answer for some of the questions.1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?I sold a book! And honestly, I still can't believe it! And Courtney and I started The Greenists and got some amazing bloggers to join us.2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?I can't … [Read more...]
Things that have happened since I last blogged
The VOA came to pick up all of our donated items.I got overly sentimental about giving away Walter, the duck umbrella I've had since 4th grade, and J and I spent about 45 minutes going through all the packed up boxes to rescue him before the VOA truck came.I had the little red mark on my nose removed with a laser that left a little red mark on my nose.My car wouldn't start and had to be towed and the tow truck guy told me he thought it was done for.Thinking my car was done for made the big repair bill seem not-so-bad.I got a review copy of STAY and spent about 80 gazillion hours staring at it. … [Read more...]
Thank you!
Thank you SO much for all of your kind words about the cover for STAY! You guys are amazing!I really love that Argo is on the cover. It wasn't the original plan, but apparently finding a stock photo of a black German Shepherd isn't super easy. Since we happen to have a black German Shepherd lying around the house, it worked out well. We took over 1,000 pictures of him and sent them off to Dutton so the amazing designer could work her magic and make that cover.Since Argo was such a huge part of writing STAY, having him on the cover just feels perfect. Not only was he the inspiration for … [Read more...]

My Whirlwind Week
Last Tuesday, I turned in my copyedits. On Wednesday, I got on a plane and flew to NY. So, you know, it wasn't hectic or anything. :) I got in Wednesday evening, made my way from JFK to Hell's Kitchen and had dinner with Neil. Sadly, no fingers were put in noses, but we did have really good Thai food. On Thursday, I met Wendy for coffee, which was delightful. It is always nice to have a chance to talk shop with other writers, and Wendy is so kind and absolutely hysterical! Then I went to Dutton (Oh! The books! Everywhere!), got to meet a whole bunch of wonderful people, and had lunch … [Read more...]
