I was watching the Westminster Dog Show on Monday, and my Pennypup was enthralled by the dogs on TV. I really had no idea that dogs could see and comprehend images on TV.

I remember reading a book about dog intelligence a few years ago. It discussed the fact that dogs can see BBC TV better b/c of the way they shoot footage (resolution, I’m guessing?). The book was written in the late 90’s (I think). I’m guessing HD probably makes it easier for dogs to watch TV. Stella seems to be able to see non-HD stuff better than Argo. I put a Benji movie on Netflix Watch Instantly for her once – it was the first time she’d ever noticed a dog on TV and she got so excited watching Benji run across a field that she fell off the bed. Argo didn’t respond at all. But HD nature docs always get his attention.

That’s so cool. I always wonder if dogs watch TV. They probably get about as much out of it as I do.

Today is National Drink Wine day, and while I cert Today is National Drink Wine day, and while I certainly appreciate the art that is a good glass of wine, I am unfortunately one of those people who turns wine into headaches. (I swear it started post-appendectomy and someday we’ll discover THAT’S what your appendix is for!) But I do love the social aspect of chatting over a drink that feels special and I love getting to use these huge green goblets I’ve had since my first apartment. So, when I chat with book clubs or zoom into happy hours, I’m usually drinking some kind of elaborate cranberry juice concoction, (or straight up apple juice like a party animal). Break out your fancy glasses and celebrate with whatever you’re drinking. Sometimes we need a little cheer in whatever form works for us. #nationalwineday #cheers #bookstagram #bookclubs #bookclubsofinstagram
