What do you create? Quirky, somewhat existential suspense novels in which “ordinary” people get involved in situations way above their pay grade, often when they are far from home. Why do you create? I can’t seem to help it. I’m not one of these people with the voices in my head compelling me to write, nor can I say that I always love the process – it can be a real slog, and I’m a terrible procrastinator – but if I stop for too long a time, I feel unmoored. What do you create? I've been fortunate to use my creativity in a variety of ways. I am a storyteller, a poet and visual artist. What do you create? The biggest, best thing I’ve created is four new people. The eldest is six foot four and sometimes my husband and I look up and wonder how this extra man ended up living in our house. In four days, he’s headed off to college. I’ve also been writing fiction and creative non-fiction for fifteen years. My debut novel, A Small Indiscretion, published in January by Random House, took longer to create than all four of my kids put together. What do you create? I create and perform sounds in sync to picture for film, television, and video games. For each project, as the Foley "Artist" I perform the footsteps of characters as well as anything they touch, handle, or fall and move upon. A Foley Mixer simultaneously records these performances using two or more microphones. Sometimes I use the actual prop that you see on screen to create the sound.
